There's been speculation that former Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Joel Quenneville could find a new job in the NHL. Quenneville was reinstated upon approval by Gary Bettman in July. He's been on the hunt for work, as former GM Stan Bowman found a job in Edmonton Quickly.

Now, the former three-time Stanley Cup-winning coach could find a job, but not in Detroit with Patrick Kane.

But there's a chance he could end up taking over the coaching duties in New York and finding himself coaching a familiar face, in Artemi Panarin once more.

Quenneville is a successful coach in the NHL, with a 452-249-96 record in the NHL.

The rumor mill in the NHL has been swirling and suggests that Peter Laviolette and Derek Lalonde are the latest coaches in the hot seat.

«That fan base and the league can't have an Original 6 team out of the playoffs for nine straight seasons,» the source told RG. «Yzerman will have to do something soon to save this season.»

GM Chris Drury seems to be moving with purpose, as he's shown no lack of patience with coaches in the past. Gerard Gallant was swiftly removed by Drury, despite taking the team to two postseasons, and having a winning record!

If you're a Bruins fan, this sounds familiar right about now. Anyway I digress, this is an example of original-six clubs acting on a mandate to win, and it appears Peter Laviolette could be on the way out next.

According to Stan Fischler of THW:

"The team is in complete disarray," Cohen explains. "There's zero cohesive line play, or team play. It seems as if it's every man for himself; except the young players." Then, a pause: "The GM and coach have lost all credibility with their players."

If the New York Rangers decide to fire their President's Trophy-winning coach, they have a former winner waiting in the wings with Joel Quenneville.

Laviolette has a 55-23-4 record with the New York Rangers and is 4th in the Metropolitan Division. A far cry from the team they were last season.

Do you think Coach Joel Quenneville will be hired by the New York Rangers, once Peter Laviolette is gone?
