With news of Luke Richardson's firing making the waves, you'd wonder how secure someone like Kyle Davidson is in his job.
Davidson became the youngest GM In the league after Stan Bowman was fired in 2021-2022. He'd accept the reins on March 1st, 2022, and would conclude the season at 7th in the Central Division, with a 28-42-12 record.
His first season taking over he'd initiate the process of the rebuild we're seeing evolve now.
With Richardson out of the mix, could we see Kyle Davidson be next on the chopping block?
According to Todd Welton of BlackhawkUp, it's highly unlikely the Blackhawks will move on from Davidson after his short tenure.
Why?
Davidson's entire M.O. is to create a pipeline that leads to top talent making the Blackhawks' roster in an efficient period of time.
We have yet to see the fruits of Kyle Davidson's labor as they're all slowly trickling in from the KHL, CHL, and NCAA.
This is a team that is being built through the draft, and players like Tyler Bertuzzi and Laurent Brossoit are here for a short period of time.
Think of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who built a Stanley Cup-winning roster through the draft. We're just now at the beginning of the process.
While Richardson did do a great job at first with the limited talent available, ultimately it cost him in the end, when he was unable to get the most out of an improved roster they have now.
A 57-118-15 record may look bad, but remember Davidson has a longer leash than a coach.
