Sorensen gave Blackhawks fans, and WGN Radio's Charlie Roumeliotis a timetable of how long both players will be out.
Fortunately for Petr Mrazek, fans will be glad to hear he won't be out long-term, as Sorensen believes it'll be 1-2 weeks for the veteran goalie.
Meanwhile, defenseman Alec Martinez is listed as day-to-day, according to Sorensen.
This is tough news for the Blackhawks, as they will be missing their starting goalie once again. Mrazek was injured early in his arrival in 2022 and would play only 39 games that season in the NHL.
While returning to full health in 2023, he'd win the Blackhawks' starting goalie job, with 18 wins and a.908 save percentage. They're pressed against the precipice as they have to rely upon goalie Arvid Soderblom, who will easily cross the 60-game threshold while Mrazek is out.
Once Soderblom hits 60 games, he will have to pass through waivers to play in Rockford again. Fears that another team will claim him are valid, as he's improved his play this season with a 1-6-1 record, 2.60 GAA, and a .915 save percentage.
While intended backup goalie Laurent Brossoit remains out of the lineup until January, after undergoing another procedure.
Veteran defenseman Alec Martinez will suffer another injury which will put his season on hold for a second time.
He's only played 15 games with the Blackhawks this year, scoring 4 points( 1 G, 3 A) as an added veteran presence.
These two players join Seth Jones and Laurent Brossoit on the injured reserve as the injuries pile up.
The Blackhawks didn't win against the Winnipeg Jets last night but did make a good effort to stay in the game to the end.
The Hawks are 8-17-2, as Anders Sorensen will look to dig the team out of the hole they've found themselves in this year.
