Rangers make significant roster move following hot start to the 2024-25 NHL regular season

The New York Rangers have officially announced a roster move on Thursday, October 24 as they have waived a veteran defensemen, Chad Ruhwedel, from the organization.

Ruhwedel has played just one game this season for the red hot New York Rangers, and is now on his way to the AHL.. unless, a team in need of a defensemen claims the 24-year old veteran.

Former Blackhawk Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers are in hopes for a deep Stanley Cup Playoff push this season, and it seems as though Ruhwedel is not apart of their plans to go 'all out' and 'all in' to win the Stanley Cup.

The Blackhawks are in a very odd position, as it seems they are still rebuilding with their current record for the start of the 2024-25 season, management tends to not believe so. The Blackhawks are currently soaking up valuable ice time for their rookies and top prospects in place on aging veterans, fans and many pundits alike disagree with their decisions recently- especially head coach Luke Richardson's decisions, but Ruhwedel may be right up their alley.

He is 24-years of age and debuted in 2012 with the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL. He was always deemed as a stay-at-home defensemen, and has never showed a crazy-amount of offensive upside- but with a loaded Chicago Blackhawks roster of forwards, Ruhwedel may be a nice reinforcement for the Blackhawks in case any injuries occur, or for the Rockford Ice Hogs, the Blackhawks' AHL organization.
