Chicago Blackhawks fans held their breath for a few moments during the Columbus Blue Jackets Blackhawks game yesterday afternoon when budding superstar Connor Bedard blocked a shot causing him to shake his left foot.

Many fans were wondering if he had injured his leg has the shot was nearly at point blank range from Blue Jackets defenseman Ivan Provorov.

It appears that he's fine and was able to finish the game.

Blackhawks fans have watched the opening years of Bedard's career where he has seen his share of ups and downs.

From all the fanfare last season to a controversy with a former fellow player then to a broken jaw which kept him out of the lineup for several months to winning the Calder trophy.

This season has been a down year for Bedard as he has been unable to score at the pace he's accustomed to.

Head coach Luke Richardson has been working his lines to find the right mix to help Bedard ignite his offence and bring him back to the player that many feel he will become.

One of the main issues is the fact that the team is lacking in depth especially at the second line centre position which has become a priority for general manager Kyle Davidson to address prior to the beginning of next season.

With attendance beginning to suffer, it's safe to say the Blackhawks will need to push their rebuild along and potentially make bigger deals to help acquire better talent and surround them around Bedard.

The Blackhawks will be on the road and will take on there original six archrival the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto as the Maple Leafs walking wounded begins to return to the line up.

Game time will be at 7:30 PM eastern.
