During a recent game against Grand Rapids, Nazar showed his true talents as he broke through the defence and had a clear shot to score a goal to give Rockford a 2-0 lead at the 16:06 mark of the first period. In the end that game went 4-1 in favor of the Icehogs.
The 20-year-old forward was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, first round 13th overall. Standing at 5 foot 9 175 lbs, Nazar has had strong success through the first six games of his AHL season as he has scored three goals with two assists for five points and is a + 2 with one shorthanded goal. He's also shooting at an incredible rate of 18.8%.
This kind of play certainly warrants the Blackhawks for him to be called up to the big club to have a few looks at the NHL level. This also begs the question of whether it's smart for the Blackhawks to do this as the team continues to be mired in losses with no hope of turning things around now many would feel he would be better off to be with the American Hockey League and playing many minutes rather than playing sparingly in Chicago.
In my view, with the Blackhawks continuously evaluating their talent, I think him should give them a few games to see what he can do and potentially spark a line that could help lead more offence to the organization.
The Blackhawks are continuing their western road trip as they will face off against the Los Angeles Kings on November 2nd and game time will be 4:00 PM eastern.
