They've got some work to do before they can think about being contenders again.
Even with star power like Connor Bedard, winning takes more than just one player. Just look at Michael Jordan back in the day he needed Scottie Pippen, Bill Cartwright, and Horace Grant to take down the Pistons.
Bedard's facing a similar challenge to MJ's Bulls, back when they were still finding their groove.
According to a recent tweet from Big Head Hockey, the Blackhawks have some less-than-stellar stats to contend with. Since 2020-2021, Connor McDavid's racked up an impressive 64 3-point games. Meanwhile, the Hawks are sitting at 54 not bad, but not quite up there with the big guns like McDavid and the Coyotes.
3-point games since 2020-21:
64 Connor McDavid
64 Arizona Coyotes
59 Detroit Red Wings
54 Chicago Blackhawks
53 San Jose Sharks
50 Columbus Blue Jackets
47 Anaheim Ducks
47 Seattle Kraken
46 New York Islanders
46 Montreal Canadiens
31 Philadelphia Flyers pic.twitter.com/BL0iwR22VJ Big Head Hockey (@BigHeadHcky) March 11, 2024
It's just a reminder that dynasties don't come easy. But hey, there's always next season.
