The Latest On Joel Quenneville Joining The New York Rangers Per Reports
Former Chicago Blackhawks Coach Joel Quenneville is in the news again, as his name continues to buzz in the latest rumors.
GM Chris Drury was reportedly hunting for new leadership behind the Rangers bench. One of the names involved was Joel Quenneville, who is a three-time Stanley Cup-winning coach in the NHL.
With news of the Rangers intent on shaking up the lineup, there was an assumption that Peter Laviolette's job was insecure, and could be fired.
However according to theNew York Post's Larry Brooks,, it seems that the speculation regarding Laviolette is incorrect.
Not a chance, according to Rangers insider Larry Brooks of The New York Post. He snuffed out any talk about Quenneville and the Blueshirts.
There has been no contact between the parties and there will be no contact between the parties.
Which would the teams down to just the Detroit Red Wings.
Brooks would qualify that with another statement from the front office of the Rangers.
In addition, Brooks made Laviolette's job security quite clear as well, saying that the Rangers are not going to be ditching their head coach and says they are «committed» to him.
Laviolette is the fourth coach behind the bench for a Rangers core that has been together since 2017-2018. The same core has run through Alain Vigneault, David Quinn, and Gerard Gallant prior to Laviolette's arrival.
The Rangers are 13-10-1 and will not get a chance to have a legend behind the bench, like Joel Quenneville.
Are the Detroit Red Wings the team that could make a serious offer to him?
The last time Quenneville coached a team was the Florida Panthers was on October 28th, 2021 before resigning from the role.
Andrew Brunette would soon take over as his protege in the NHL.
