Traded: Patrick Kane Reportedly on his way out of Detroit and a Reporter reveals his suitor
Could GM Brad Treliving of the Toronto Maple Leafs make a blockbuster trade for Blackhawks legend, Patrick Kane?
With news out of Toronto that the team will make a trade soon to secure goal-scoring depth, they have looked to their original six rivals, the Red Wings.
The Red Wings roster Patrick Kane, could become available according to NHL Insider Adam Proteau who suggests a major face life could happen to the club, thanks to the coaching change.
While last season he scored 47 points in 51 games with the Wings, this season he hasn't been as exceptional.
in 32 games he's only scored 17 points( 7 G, 10 A) and could benefit from a fresh start in Toronto.
'Kane hasn't had an exceptional season on offense, with only five goals and 14 points in 30 games.
His salary cap hit of $4 million makes him an affordable option for teams seeking depth and playoff experience, and the most he can likely get for Yzerman on the trade block is a mid-tier draft pick or slightly above-average prospect.
It's not a fairytale ending for Kane in Detroit, but considering the poor way things have unfolded for Kane and the Wings, an end to their time together is probably the best way to move forward.'
Patrick Kane could add veteran leadership to the Maple Leafs. He's experienced the hustle and bustle of the post-season and could be added to the Leafs' roster at a discount rate of $4.0 Million AAV.
Here's how a hypothetical Toronto Maple Leafs lineup could look with "Showtime" added to the roster:
Here is a potential lineup with Kane in the lineup:
Knies -- Matthews -- Kane
Pacioretty -- Tavares -- Marner
McMann -- Domi -- Nylander
Lorentz -- Kampf -- Reaves
Toronto could benefit immensely from Kane's addition to the lineup, as they could balance the lineup, and spread Auston Matthews, and Mitch Marner to take charge of their own lines.
Kane's offensive impact in the NHL will be etched in the records of the league forever, as he's won a Calder, Conn Smythe, Art Ross, Hart, and Lester B. Pearson awards, and has 1301 points to his name.
He's third all-time in points scored by American-born forwards, only 91 points shy of Brett Hull's second spot.
While we're now speculating at this point in the junction, Kane has shown he has what it takes last season to continue to be a contributor in the Red Wings lineup and isn't finished chasing a cup just yet.
The Red Wings don't seem like the best option for Kane anymore, and he could find a spot in the playoffs with the Maple Leafs who are 1st in the Atlantic Division, with a 23-13-2 record in the NHL.
