Is 2024-2025 starting to mirror last season? The Blackhawks weren't healthy, until nearly the end of the season, but still had to recall players from the AHL.

Well, now the dam may have broken as we have an injury to report. Seth Jones is an integral part of the Blackhawks defense and helped mentor Alex Vlasic last season.

The mentorship has paid off, as the two were an inseparable pair, and unfortunately, Richardson did it this season to place veteran defenseman Alec Martinez on the same pairing as recently as November 14th.

But, Jones has seen derision for his time played in Chicago after his arrival in the Windy City was costly, with Stan Bowman signing him at an AAV of $9.5 Million AAV.

Now, Jones has been taken out of the lineup due to an injury.

Jones will be placed on the injured reserver per Luke Richardson when he addressed the media this afternoon.

According to Richardson, it's an injury to his foot.

Jones blocked a shot in Thursday's loss to the Seattle Kraken. There's no timeline on when he might return, but players put on IR must miss a minimum of seven days from the date of the injury.

Jones has logged 10 points in 17 games this season and is averaging a league-leading 25:43 per contest. The 30-year-old is in his fourth season with the Blackhawks after being acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jones has played 17 games for the Blackhawks this season, with 10 points( 2 G, 8 A) to his name.

The Blackhawks will be without a key piece in the lineup, as they're heading into murky waters, with a 6-10-1 record.
