More tragic news has hit the hockey world with passing of Lary Trader

The NHL Alumni have announced the death of former NHL defenseman Larry Trader.

Trader played for the Detroit Red Wings, St Louis Blues, and Montreal Canadiens.

Trader was a fifth round pick in the 1981 draft by the Red Wings. He would play in 55 games stretched across the 1982-83 and 1984-85 seasons. He was then traded to the Blues, where he would participate in six games through two seasons. Then, in the 1987-88 season, he was traded again to the Canadiens.

The season after his stint with Montreal, Traded played in the AHL for the Binghamton Whalers. After his time with the Whalers, he spent time in Austria and Italy, where he would play five seasons and cap off his hockey career.

The following statement is from the NHL Alumni:

The NHL Alumni Association is saddened to learn that Larry Trader has passed away at the age of 61.

Larry was drafted in the 5th round of the 1981 Entry Draft to the @DetroitRedWings. He played two seasons with the team before moving on to the @StLouisBlues, and finishing his NHL career with the @CanadiensMTL. In total, Larry played in 91 regular-season games, scoring 18 points."
