Marc-Andre Fleury penalized for play that leaves fans baffled
During the Wild versus Ducks game last night, a bizarre incident occurred that resulted in Marc-Andre Fleury, the goaltender for the Wild, receiving a penalty. This left many fans confused, as Fleury didn't do anything wrong.
Penalty leaves fans confused.. what was Fleury supposed to do?
Goaltenders in the NHL generally don't take many penalties, and Fleury is no exception. However, during the game, he was penalized for a play that was not his fault. As the Wild began to break the puck out of their zone, Frank Vatrano of the Ducks accidentally clipped Fleury's face with his butt-end while skating past him. Fleury wasn't even aware of what was happening, and it was a clear accident. This left fans confused as to what Fleury was supposed to do to avoid this happening.
"Not sure how Fleury is supposed to avoid Frank Vatrano skating face-first into his stick?" stated by SpokedZ on X.
Fleury records a shutout & penalty against the Ducks
Fleury was able to redeem himself by recording a shutout against the Ducks, winning 5 of his last 6 starts, and remaining one of the reasons the Wild have stayed competitive this season.
