Toronto Maple Leafs Explore Coaching Options, Eyeing Joel Quenneville
The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the hunt for a new head coach after parting ways with Sheldon Keefe.
Amidst their search, the team has reportedly shown interest in former NHL coach Joel Quenneville, according to NHL analyst Nick Kypreos.
During a recent episode of Sportsnet's «Real Kyper & Bourne» show, Kypreos revealed that the Maple Leafs, under the direction of General Manager Brad Treliving, are actively exploring all available coaching options.
Names like Craig Berube and Todd McLellan have come up, but it's the inquiry about Joel Quenneville that's drawing significant attention.
Quenneville, a name synonymous with NHL success, has been out of the coaching scene since his 2021 departure from the Florida Panthers amidst controversies linked to his time with the Chicago Blackhawks.
During his tenure in Chicago, Quenneville led the team to three Stanley Cup victories and is currently the second all-time in NHL coaching wins.
However, his career took a turn following allegations by former player Kyle Beach-a situation that Quenneville allegedly did not address adequately at the time.
Despite his impressive track record, Quenneville's return to coaching in the NHL hinges on his reinstatement, which has not yet occurred, as noted by reporter Andy Strickland.
As the Maple Leafs weigh their options, the potential addition of Quenneville could signify a bold move aimed at leveraging his extensive experience to achieve playoff successa quality Toronto has been chasing fervently.
