The Chicago Blackhawks are 'locked in' on who they're taking at No. 2 overall
The 2024 NHL Draft begins on June 28th, at 7PM in Las Vegas, where will see the 1st overall pick taken, who is likely to be Macklin Celebrini according to consensus.
After that, it will be a free-for-all and teams will have a plethora of great prospects to choose from.
According to GrantMcCagg and Recrutes.ca and has connections to scouts who are tapped into NHL teams their gameplan for the draft.
Here's the latest:
Here is what I heard from one very tied-in NHL source today concerning how the top six picks may go.
Chicago - "Levshunov locked in"
Anaheim - "Silayev from everything I'm hearing "
Columbus - "Scouts think Lindstrom is going 4th"
MTL - "Everyone thinks MTL is taking Demidov or Buium"
Utah - "Sennecke goes 6th"
Take it for what it's worth. All just speculation until you hear the names called.
According to the word of the scouts McCagg knows, the Blackhawks are locked in Levshunov.
Which means the Hawks will be passing on Ivan Demidov and Cayden Lindstrom, if this turns out to be true.
Levshunov played 38 games with the Michigan State Spartans, scoring 35 points( 9 G, 26 A), and has been considered a potential #1 defenseman for the team that drafts him.
Known particularly as a two-way defenseman, he could add defensive depth needed for the Blackhawks.
Central Scouting - Apr. 16th: "A smooth-skating defenseman with high-end puck skills. Uses his size, strength and reach as assets to effectively defend in the defensive zone and has a good grasp of positioning and coverage.
