Welcome back Blackhawks fans to hawksinsider.com 2022 player grade series. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the season of Dylan Strome. If there has ever been a season that embodies «a roller coaster» of a season, it is Dylan Strome's 2021-2022 season. A season that started with him hardly getting any playing time while Jermey Colliton was still at the helm. More often than not, Strome found himself on the healthy scratch list rather than the lineup. And those times that he didn't get scratched, he was mainly on the 3rd, sometimes 4th line. After Colliton's departure and the arrival of interim head coach Derek King, he finally was given his opportunity. And all he did with that opportunity was have his best season that he has had in Chicago thus far. He had 48 total points on the year with 22 goals and 26 assists. Those 22 goals also set a new career high for him, passing his 2018-2019 past career high of 20.
Season Grade: B
All around, solid season from Dylan Strome. And if not for Jeremy Colliton, who knows how much better of a season Dylan Strome could have had. Once he was put on that top line with Kane and DeBrincat, the chemistry just seemed instant. Now yes, anyone who is put on a line with those two guys are going to find success most likely. But there is very much a difference between being good, and having chemistry and being good. And Strome has to be given some credit for being a big part of that trio's success on the season.
Check out some Stromer highlights below:
Here is just one of many plays that showcase the chemistry that Strome, Kane, and DeBrincat have:
