Well, the first slew of waiver wires came in, and there's some interesting names on here that the Hawks could add for fun.
Ilya Solovyov is one of them. Solovyov is a part of the Calgary Flames organization who was put on waivers today. Solovyov was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Flames. But as a seventh round pick, Ilya has exceeded all expectations, and has shocked people this preseason.
Solovyov had a good season with the Calgary Wranglers of the AHL, the Flames affiliate last season, when he put up 15 points in 55 games. When he was with the Flames last year, he had three assists in ten games. Solovyov could be a fun player for Chicago to have.
Another one to note is former Blackhawk Reese Johnson. Johnson caught a lot of stray with his time on the Hawks, and rightfully so, as he wasn't that impressive, so Kyle Davidson let him go. Johnson then went to the Minnesota Wild, where he signed for $775,000.
However, it looks like Minnesota wasn't as impressive with him either, as he's hit waivers. Johnson had only five points in the 42 contests he played in last year, and has never cracked an NHL season, nor an AHL season, where he has had more than ten points in a season.
This could very well mark the end of Reese's hockey career.
