The Chicago Blackhawks have not shown much promise during this NHL preseason so far, losing all three of the games played. Their prospects on the other hand, impressed during the 'Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase' against the Minnesota wild earlier in September.
One player who stood out the most in that showcase was Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy, who, according to Luke Richardson, is deserving to still be on the roster despite having three rounds of cuts to the forward group.
He was the Chicago Blackhawks 2024 draft pick and is the only one from that class that has shown a sign of promise to the organization.
Unfortunately, confirmed by Blackhawks reporter and head coach Luke Richardson, he will be sent back to his OHL team, the Windsor spitfires, after Tuesday's preseason game against the Minnesota wild.
Despite the demotion incoming after his final preseason game, the 72nd overall pick in the third round by the Chicago Blackhawks has impressed and exceeded expecations by a mile early on, and general manager Kyle Davidson clearly got a steal- which may turn out to be the biggest of the 2024 NHL draft class.
