BREAKING - Duncan Keith Has Reached a Decision on If He Will Retire or Not..
Duncan Keith joined the Edmonton Oilers and made quite the impact, bringing a veteran presence to the locker room as well as being able mentor there youth on the blue line with guys such as Evan Bouchard.
About a month ago news broke that the Edmonton Oilers gave goaltender Mike Smith and defenseman Duncan Keith a one-month window to decide if either of them wanted to retire OR to continue playing.
Mike Smith has reported that he will go on long-time injury reserve for the remainder of his contract meaning he's pretty much retired, but not officially until after this upcoming season finishes.
The Oilers were just waiting for Duncan Keith's answer, and so were the Blackhawks
Why the Blackhawks? Because if Keith decided to retire after the season that just passed, the Blackhawks would be hit with a whopping $7,300,000 cap hit- yes that's a whopping 7.3 million dollars!
Well the Blackhawks can take a deep breath of relief as Duncan Keith has confirmed that he will be returning to the Oilers organization.
