It's been a very rough few days for Philadelphia Flyers prospect goaltender Ivan Fedotov. After he tried to leave Russia for his intentions to play in the NHL next season he's been detained for the Russian Government.
We have then learned that he's also been allegedly poisoned while in Russian Police custody. The Russian Government is trying to charge Fedotov for evading military service in retaliation of his intent to go play for the Philadelphia Flyers after the NHL has cut ties with Russia over the invasion on Ukraine
Russian reporter Slava Malamud would share the latest on the Fedotov situation. "According to TASS, the would be NHL Flyers
goalie Ivan Fedotov will be sent to serve on Novaya Zemlya, an Arctic outpost. This, without a doubt, has been arranged by CSKA owner Igor Sechin, Putin's close friend, as retaliation for wanting to leave the KHL."
- Slava Malamud
This will likely be the end of Fedotov's dreams of playing in the NHL unfortunately.
