BREAKING: Former Top Blackhawks Prospect Signs With a Brand New Organization
Jake Wise Takes His Next Step: AHL Bound
In a significant move for his budding career, ex-Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jake Wise has signed a one-year contract with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.
Selected 69th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Wise's rights with the team lapsed after they didn't extend an entry-level contract by this week's deadline.
Wise, concluding his five-year NCAA journey between Ohio State and Boston University, wrapped up his collegiate career with 39 points in 40 games as the Buckeyes' captain.
His leadership and scoring prowess are set to make an impact in Charlotte as he joins the Florida Panthers prospects.
Last season, he gained a taste of the AHL, delivering solid performances on both regular and playoff terms. This AHL stint could serve as a stepping stone toward securing an NHL entry-level contract.
