This summer the Arizona Coyotes and Commissioner Gary Bettman have been trying to keep the Coyotes within the state. This is proving to be very difficult with both parties losing their vote on the new arena in Arizona after the Coyotes reviled to be in debt in their previous arena.
The Coyotes have already moved a handful of times in and around Arizona, currently playing in a University that has a very small capacity. It may be time to call it quits in Arizona and move on to a new area. Places like Houston, Atlanta and Quebec City have been at the center of attention, in regards to getting a hockey team next. However, another likely destination has joined the party.
According to Eklund from Hockey Buzz, if and when the NHL expands again, it will out to Salt Lake City. Even if the Coyotes were to somehow stay in the desert it is likely Salt Lake receives an NHL team either way.
"It's starting to look like Salt Lake City will be getting an NHL team. Some in the media are saying this is a growing inevitability..."
