BREAKING: Former Top NHL Prospect Leaves The NHL And Heads to China
NHL Prospect Ryan Merkley Joins KHL's Kunlun Red Star in China
Former San Jose Sharks' first-round pick Ryan Merkley has signed with China's KHL team, Kunlun Red Star.
The defenseman, picked 21st overall in 2018, faced locker room concerns in his NHL journey, as he reportedly requested a trade prior. He was traded to the Colorado Eagles in 2022-23.
Merkley recorded two goals and 20 assists across 58 AHL games. Despite Kunlun Red Star's struggles, the move offers Merkley a fresh international opportunity to showcase his skills.
