The Chicago Blackhawks are officially selling, and tanking for Connor Bedard.
The draft lottery is likely the only thing they have a decent chance of winning this year, after another blockbuster trade has been made between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs:
#Blackhawks receive: 2025 1st-round pick (Top 10 protected, moves to a 2026 1st) 2026 2nd Joey Anderson Pavel Gogolev
Maple Leafs receive: Jake McCabe (50% salary retained) Sam Lafferty 2024 5th (conditional) 2025 5th (conditional)
At first glance, the Blackhawks did not get what they were asking, they got much less. Joey Anderson, acquired by the Blackhawks is a 24-year old who has yet to show any progression of being an NHL caliber forward with 16 points in 76 NHL games on a stacked Maple Leafs roster.
The draft picks here are the real steal, in what the Blackhawks now have a boat load of.
Future Blackhawks picks:
2023: Two firsts, three seconds
2024: Two firsts, three seconds
2025: Two firsts, one second
Plus whatever the Rangers dismissively toss on the ground for Patrick Kane (maybe like one-fifth of a Tanner Jeannot).
