BREAKING - The Montreal Canadiens Have Traded Jeff Petry & a Top Prospect to WHERE!?
Elliot Friedman took to Twitter at 3:15pm eastern today to announce that Jeff Petry will be traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Petry is a 6 foot 3 2010 pound shut down defenseman who has twelve years of NHL experience underneath his belt.
Although Petry is a shut down defenseman on the back end, he produced more points offensively than most on the Montreal Canadiens roster and went on a goal streak last season- when he is hot, he's hot!
Penguins fans will remember Petry but not in the best way, Petry scored the game winning goal just one year ago in the series between Montreal and Pittsburgh, giving them a 1-0 series lead.
The Canadiens are giving up Petry and prospect Ryan Poehling in exchange for Mike Matheson and a 4th round pick.
