Breaking News The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs made a trade. Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas has acquired Senators Goaltender Matt Murray. The trade is for future considerations. The Senators are also sending a third-round pick in 2023 and a seventh-round pick to Toronto as part of this deal.
As reported the Senators are going to retain salary to make this deal and they will now retain 25% of Murray's salary $6.25 million annual cap hit and $15 million in total salary for the next two seasons, meaning Kyle Dubas will only have to pay Murray $4.68 million dollars annually.
The Leafs are hoping the 28 year old can return to the goaltender he was winning back to back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The move almost certainly means Jack Campbell will not be returning to the Maple Leafs next season which is a huge loss for Leafs Nation losing their goalie they nicknamed "Soupy".
