When it comes to NHL rookies, general managers need to make a major decision on whether to keep a young player past the 10-game mark. This game is usually circled on their calendars as it will determine whether they can slide a year of their entry-level contract into the next.

This date was important for the Chicago Blackhawks as they have two rookies on their roster they need to make this decision for. Both Connor Bedard and Kevin Korchinski could have had their rookie deals slid past for another season; however, the Blackhawks decided to keep them with the team past 10 games.

This move was anticipated by every member of the NHL pundits, along with most fanbases and other general managers throughout the league.
Bedard currently has a record of 10 games played, with five goals and two assists for seven points and is a -5. Korchinski has played ten games, has scored no goals, and has three assists with a -8 rating.

Several games ago, head coach Luke Richardson explained that he intends to keep Korchinski with the Blackhawks as they feel he will be better off learning with the Hawks rather than the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Blackhawks will be at home to face the New Jersey Devils on November 5th. Game time will be at 7:00 PM Eastern.
