They had a 2-0 lead late in the 3rd, but then lost that lead. Well, luckily they didn't let that cost the game, as they netted the GWG in OT to win Gold.
Four Blackhawks prospects were actually part of the Gold Medal team. Those prospects are Nolan Allen, Ethan del Mastro, Colton Dach, and Kevin Korchinski.
With the tournament now over, we have learned that another Blackhawks prospect had the chance to play in the tournament, but chose not to. That player is Lukas Reichel.
Thanks to a tweet from Charlie Romueliotis, we know just why Reichel wasn't featured in the event.
Credit to Reichel for passing up on this kind of opportunity to help out the team he was invested in. It doesn't seem like Reichel missed much, though, as Germany walked away from the tournament with a 1-4-0 record and an 11-1 whooping from USA.
