Blackhawks' issue two pieces of crucial news moments before puck drop vs Anaheim Ducks
In a last-minute update just moments before puck drop, the Chicago Blackhawks have issued two crucial injury updates that will impact their lineup.
According to NBC Sports Chicago's Charlie Roumeliotis, defenseman Jarred Tinordi will be absent from practice today as he has entered concussion protocol. Tinordi, who has already dealt with an oblique injury this season, has played in just 12 games so far.
Meanwhile, forward Andreas Athanasiou, who has been sidelined with a groin injury since November 9, is targeting a return to practice by the end of this week.
The 29-year-old, who achieved 20 goals last season, has faced offensive challenges this year, recording four assists and no goals in 11 games, with his ice time dropping to under 13 minutes per game. Athanasiou signed a two-year, $8.5 million extension last summer to continue his tenure with the Blackhawks.
