On Thursday, November twenty-fourth the hockey world got heartbreaking news, that news was surrounding the passing of Hockey Hall of Famer and a Toronto Maple Leafs legend Borje Salming. Borje was 71 years of age, and the disease he was battling (ALS), started to become more severe, to the point where he was unable to speak for his remaining weeks.

On November eighteenth Salming attended a Toronto Maple Leafs game for a ceremony honouring his playing career, while he was there he caught up with a old teammate and also a good friend, Mark Kirton, who also battles ALS. The two met for an emotional hug, which can be viewed below.

Kirton recently took to social media, with his wife Lisa, to comment on the passing of his good friend Borje, and he shared some emotional details, which can be read below:

''Sad, sad day. So glad he was able to attend tributes here & Sweden & you know what, he died a good death. Meaning his loving family was around him & he didn't allow the ALS monster to rip him apart piece by piece over time. King outsmarted the f**** disease. Deep down know that he knew what kind of a burden this would become on his family. You think he was a smart hockey player but he was even a smarter man! It's time to rest. God bless.

-Your friends,
Kirts and Lisa''

Any information surrounding Salming's death is quite sad to hear, but good stories like these will always be cherished.
