The Blackhawks were very active on the trade market ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The Blackhawks shipped McCabe, Domi, Lafferty, and Kane out of town before the deadline, but Kyle Davidson managed to make one last trade before the clock expired.

Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks acquired forward Austin Wagner from the Los Angeles Kings for future considerations. Wagner has played a total of 171 games in the NHL, scoring 22 goals, 18 assists, and carrying a +/- -17 in those contests.

Wagner is a 6'1", 195 pound left winger who hasn't played in a game at the NHL level since the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season. The 25 year-old has played in 24 games for the AHL's Ontario Reign this season. Wagner has 9 goals, 3 assists, and a +/- 7 in those contests.

It appears that Davidson is trying to load up Rockford for their AHL playoff run with this move. Wagner is a restricted free agent at the conclusion of this season, which makes him a candidate to fill out a bottom six role on the Blackhawks main roster next season on a cheap contract.
