Bruins Player Requests a Trade and One Links Him to The Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks are in full rebuild mode and the Bruins are looking to win the Stanley Cup.
So, why would the Blackhawks want to make a push for one of the Bruins' players? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Well, not in this situation. Bruins defenseman, Mike Reilly, has requested to be traded or let go by the team following his demotion to the AHL.
It makes sense for the Bruins to honor his trade request, as they have a player returning from LTIR, which means they need to lose a player so that they can afford to bring back the player from LTIR, which is Derek Forbort.
The Blackhawks should surely go after Reilly, because they are the type of team that needs to take shots on players like this, hoping they can turn them into a trade asset. But if they can't, at least Reilly gets a shot to compete at the NHL level. The Blackhawks have the cap space to endure a contract such as Reilly's, in exchange for an asset or two, it just makes sense.
