The Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks could be possible trade partners. Vancouver still has their first round selection, and Chicago has another one later on in the first.
If the Canucks are really trying to get rid of defenseman Tyler Myers, the Hawks can pick him up and get their first with it for our 19th pick and some change.
Myers fits Davidson's regime really well, and that is to get short term contracts to save money for the future. Also, Myers has a $6 million cap hit, so it would help us reach the cap floor and give some relief on Vancouver's end with the cap situation they put themselves in.
Another good candidate for this type of trade is Tanner Pearson or Connor Garland. Pearson has one more year left and is sitting at a cap hit just above $3 million. Pearson is spending most of his time on the LTIR, so that would relieve the Canucks too. Meanwhile, with all the cap relief they're getting, they still get a first round selection.
Plus, Davidson seems to like these trades. I'll pick up a contract, but you have to give me a pick with it. Some examples are the Petr Mrazek trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs at last year's draft, and the Nikita Zaitsev trade with the Ottawa Senators just this year.
I really do think this trade will work out for both sides, and both teams should give this some thought.
