Back in 2019, a move caused quite a stir in the hockey world. Wether you loved him or you hated him, Don Cherry was synonymous with Canadian hockey and more specifically Saturday nights. While some thought it was time for Cherry to go, others have vehemently defended the brash, oft politically incorrect personify
With Don Cherry tending once again, Tara Slone, former co-worker and host weighed in on how she feels about the situation, take a look.
It's a entire thread:
I already know I'm going to get a lot of heat depending on the side of hockey fans this reaches, but the thing is, she's right. Tara Slone is right.
Don Cherry was good for one thing and one thing only. Providing Canadians a sense of nostalgia one night a week. He was once a knowledgeable hockey mind, quickly became old, tired and stuck in his ways, ways that society has grown out of. This isn't about anything other than Cherry not knowing he has to change with the times. He didn't, and he paid dearly for it. Just as he should've. You're a national broadcaster, you cannot be xenophobic, a bigot or anything of the like and get away with it
