Ex-Blackhawk Expands Into Story telling, as he releases his own book
While his NHL career was filled with triumph and tragedy, Jordin Tootoo continues to put in the good work since hanging up his skates.
As part of his latest book release, Inuk NHLer Tootoo returns to Nunavut to tell the story of his past and present along with his father.
Originally released on May 16th, 2023, "Mind Over Matter" is available at national chains like Barnes and Noble.
He discusses his father's journey with him as well as his own investigation into family history, unmarked graves of indigenous peoples, and residential schools.
As detailed in All The Way, Tootoo has been working on learning from his mistakes and working through the tragedy of losing his brother before his first shift with the Nashville Predators.
As the first Inuk to play in the NHL, Tootoo spent 13 years with the Nashville Predators, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils.
After the death of his brother Terence, Tootoo now engages people as a speaker and embraces his responsibility as a role model to fight stigma surrounding Mental Health. In addition, he founded the Team Tootoo Foundation to work on suicide prevention.
