As fans of the game, one debate that always comes up among fans is how poor the officiating can be in an NHL game. A few decades ago, without the help of cameras, there was only one referee used to officiate the entire game.
As the NHL evolved, they decided to add a second one, along with linesmen, and many cameras all over the rinks to help catch any mistakes more effectively.
There have been numerous glaring mistakes made by officials over the years that have cost teams games, and in some cases, playoff series, regardless of what the officials see or how many cameras they have.A
With the power of social media, Allan Walsh, who is the agent of former Blackhawks goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, took to the X platform and voiced his displeasure with the officiating and how it has become increasingly incompetent.
Walsh didn't mince words and continued his rant by directly calling out Gary Bettman, stating that the NHL can discipline their coaches and general managers for criticizing the officials, but not the agents.
It seems that no matter how many games I watch, there are always mistakes being made by the officials, and some of them are glaring. Whether it's intentional or not, it appears that these issues are here to stay.
