Kane ultimately has a say in where he goes cause of his no-move clause, but former Blackhawks player John Scott has come out and said that the New York Rangers should do everything they can to acquire Kane, and I don't think Kane would mind this idea as he most likely would be paired up with former teammate Artemi Panarin.
This move would also make a lot of sense for the Rangers as even though they have a very talented roster, they currently sit right in the middle of the NHL in scoring; they rank 15th in the league at 3.16 goals per game. Adding someone of the likes of Kane on the right side which is a place they could use some help, would be able to give them some extra depth they are looking for. The Rangers currently sit in 3rd place in the Metropolitan 10 points back of the division-leading Carolina Hurricanes
Scott stated on his «Dropping The Gloves» podcast on what the Rangers would have to give up to acquire Kane
This may seem like a lot but if Kane would be willing to sign an extension with the Rangers would it really be that big of a loss? The Rangers are in win now mode and this deal would just make sense for them. Also they are one of three teams to have multiple first-round picks this year so I don't think giving up one of them to acquire arguably the greatest American-born players in NHL history is that big of a deal.
