The Chicago Blackhawks are in a rough drought right now, and have been for the past couple of months. When taking a look at the roster that is second last in the Central division, you start to think about the lack of veteran presence within the Blackhawks forward core.

Chicago certainly has a solid top 6 core containing:

DeBrincat- Strome- Kane
Hagel- Dach- Lafferty

Very unlike the bottom 6 containing:
Kurashev(22) - Slavin(23) - Kubalik(26)
Borgstrom(24) - Carpenter(31)- Entwistle(22)

With right wing Wayne Simmonds $750,000 base contract coming to an end shortly, Chicago should be keeping a close eye on the veteran gritty- 33 year old forward. Simmonds brings a high-intense level of play to the game of hockey, he does not shy away from throwing a hit, that's for sure.

Chicago's bottom six is in need of room to breathe and develop on the ice, Wayne Simmonds would provide Chicago's youth with the comfortability of "The Wayne Train".
