Erik Gustafsson of all players got the night started just under two minutes in with a shot from the top of the zone that beat Sandstrom blocker side to give the Blackhawks the early 1-0 lead. Jonathan Toews with the assist on that goal.
Later in the period, the Blackhawks would extend their lead Jonathan Toews' 12th goal of the season. Sam Lafferty hit Toews with a beautiful pass as Toews was getting out of the penalty box. Toews was then able to fire it under the pad of Sandstrom to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead. Good penalty kill from the Blackhawks so what better way to cap it off then with a goal.
Shortly after that, the Flyers were able to get one back. A 2-on-1 where Lankinen really had no chance as Kevin Hayes was left with a wide open net off a pass from Scott Laughton. The score was now 2-1 Blackhawks which is how it would stay for the remainder of the first period, and the entirety of the second period.
The lone goal in the 3rd period came off the stick of Alex DeBrincat. His 41st of the season, he has now tied his career high in goals for a season. With two games remaining this season, would not be surprised to see him set a new career high. Patrick Kane also tied his career high in assists on that play as well. That assist was also number 750 in his career.
So the Blackhawks win by a final score of 3-1 over the Flyers. They will be back in action Wednesday night against the Vegas Golden Knights for the final home game of the season. Hopefully they are able to treat the fans to one final win at the United Center this season.
