The St. Louis Blues were down 2-0 in Anaheim, Sunday night, when all of a sudden, announcers Darren Pang and John Kelly heard a familiar voice behind them.
John Kelly spotted the actor, first, and commented on Hamm's favorite player, Ivan Barbashev.
When Pang realized he was there, they decided to «drum up some luck». The next 6 minutes and 53 seconds were filled with 4 goals by the Mad Men star's home town team.
After that, of course, no one wanted him to leave the booth. But when he did, he must have left some Midwest magic behind, as the Blues continued to score 2 more goals, besting the Ducks 6-3.
Having grown up in St. Louis, and attended the University of Missouri, John Hamm is affectionately known as a St. Louis «Super Fan». After the game, Doug Armstrong (Blues' GM) requested the actor's presence in Minnesota (for the first round of playoffs). Although unable to attend, Jon promised that he'd be in touch with members of the team, and cheering them on from wherever he happens to be.
