Blackhawks Head coach Luke Richardson knows a thing or two about playing defence in the NHL. Having played 1417 games and amassing over 2055 penalty minutes, Richardson can weigh in his expert opinion on how players should position themselves for defensive assignments.

The Blackhawks played the Vancouver Canucks tonight, and with eight minutes left in the third period, Blackhawks rookie Lukas Reichel failed to clear the puck out a few times and ended up being lined up by Canucks forward Dakota Joshua.

With Reichel out of the play, Mackenzie Entwhistle came to his teammates' defence where Joshua had no interest in engaging. This led to A5 on three in the Chicago end and the Vancouver Canucks scored taking the team up two to one.

This is a hard lesson for Reichel in terms of positioning and defensive tendencies. Is it right for Richardson to call out his player in such a manner? I'll leave the viewership to be the judge.

The Blackhawks ended up losing that game 4-2.
