The Seattle Kraken are facing a hefty lawsuit over their 2024 Winter Classic jerseys.
Entrepreneur Paul Kim is suing the Kraken ownership, claiming they violated trademark rights by using the colors and design of the defunct Seattle Metropolitans, which Kim bought the rights to in 2014.
Despite earlier assurances from Kraken representatives that they would avoid a Metropolitans-inspired design, Kim argues that the Winter Classic jerseys released in January closely resemble the Metropolitans' trademarks.
Seattle Metropolitans was shocked that the Kraken copied its famous trademarks in a blatant attempt to create a false association with its brand and confuse the public, including the great Seattle hockey fans.
The Kraken has not responded in court yet.
