Nolan Patrick Receives Worst Case Scenario News and May Consider Retiring
One of the most brutal moves from the Flyers within the past decade has to be drafting forward Nolan Patrick second overall over current NHL Superstars like Cale Makar, Elias Pettersson and even Canadiens newly announced captain Nick Suzuki.
2017, the NHL draft is taking place and the Flyers scouts are pointing fingers to defenseman Cale Makar, as the Flyers did not have a ''franchise'' defenseman at the time. Current general manager at the time in 2017 Ron Hextall disregarded the scouts comments as he stated he was ''sticking to his gut'' drafting Nolan Patrick, over Cale Makar, and many others..
The issue with Ron Hextall drafting Patrick, was that Patrick already had concussion issues prior to the NHL draft and Ron Hextall was well aware. Patrick was then rushed into two seasons in the big leagues (NHL) before suffering yet another head injury, which was a start to more.
Fast forwarding two years into his NHL career Hextall moved on from the player who he was so set on and moved him to Vegas. Patrick has yet to play a full season, as just three months into his time in Vegas Patrick suffered another head injury and has recently been told he may never play hockey again.
Patrick is now confirmed to be missing a whole other year next season, and Elliot Friedman states retirement is quite thee option at the moment as Patrick Has been diagnosed with some serious internal concussions.
