It was 13 years ago today, when the Blackhawks went up 3 games to 2 over the Nashville Predators in the First Round of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They were down 4-3 in the game, and with 13.6 seconds left, you know who, the one and only Patrick Kane scored a shorty to tie it up and take the Hawks to overtime. And then, of course, it was none other than the legendary Marian Hossa with the GWG.
Patrick Kane's goal was the first playoff goal of his career, and it was a big one. Marian Hossa's was his first playoff coal as a Blackhawk. Incredible milestone moments for both Chicago superstars.
Chicago would eventually make it to the Finals, which they hadn't done since 1992, when they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Oddly enough, this year saw Chicago go against their supposed «tanking» to beat the Penguins in their last meeting of the regular season, which knocked Pittsburgh out of the Playoffs for the first time in 16 years.
Chicago's rebuild game is strong, as seen by their AHL team's performance in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Blackhawks will no doubt be a Stanley Cup contending team, again. And maybe sooner than you think.
Until then, relive the entire Round 1, Game 5 action, here:
