Sunday's 5-2 loss at the hands of the Florida Panthers on Sunday is not something that I'm sure Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane would like to remember, but his 3rd period assist on defenseman Caleb Jones' goal certainly is something that Kane should hold onto the memory of.

Kane's assist on the goal was the 720th of his NHL career, which is good for 2nd on the Blackhawks' all-time assists list, moving him past Hawks legend Denis Savard. Kane now trails only the great Stan Mikita, who sits comfortably in the lead with 926 career assists with as a Blackhawk.

Savard, who entered the Hockey Hall of Fame back in 2000, took to social media on Sunday following Kane's milestone achievement to congratulate the future Hall-of-Famer on moving up the franchise leaderboard.

"Kaner, congratulations. I know how hard it is to get there. Been there and done that. And obviously with the career that you've had so far, it's been so great to see you achieve so many records in the organization and around the league. One thing for sure, most impressive is that you have many, many more years to play. We're so lucky to have you. I know our fans appreciate the way you play, what you've done here for this organization. So, enjoy your night. Congratulations again and see you soon."

Savard is a class act, all the way. What a wonderful message from one Hawks legend to another. I'm certain that Kane, 33, appreciated the message from his first ever NHL head coach, and for Savard, one of his former pupils has certainly gone on to make him proud with a stellar career that could one day rival his own.
