Patrick Kane reveals he wants to finish his career with his former team:
In a recent interview with his new team, the Detroit Red Wings, Patrick Kane opened up about his lengthy history with the Chicago Blackhawks. Despite the shift to Detroit, Kane surprisingly didn't rule out the possibility of a future return to the Blackhawks.
Having spent a significant 16 years with the Blackhawks, Kane acknowledged the substantial success they achieved together. When asked about the potential for a reunion, he shared:
«I was there for a long time. We had a good run when I was there. I think there's always a piece in the back of your mind that maybe it could potentially happen or even down the line or in the future, you never know, but yeah, I love the city, loved my time there with the organization
.»
Kane's comments suggest a deep appreciation for his time in Chicago, leaving the door slightly ajar for a potential return in the future, and he hinted further at it, stating he doesn't want to go to an organization that he's not comfortable with as he's nearing the end of his career, which would make the Blackhawks a perfect fit.
«I hope not,» the 35-year-old Kane said. «I hope it's not like six, seven teams, to be honest with you. I'd rather keep it as low as possible. You have a 3-year-old son, it's like it's tough to move around all the time. I think the situation here (in Detroit), what they're building, kind of where I fit into the team made a lot of sense for me. I could have maybe went to a team that was higher up in the standings, but this made the most sense for me and getting my game back. That's what I'm trying to do to now. Obviously try to help the team win, but to do that is being the best version of myself, have that lateral movement, be able to be dynamic out there, make plays, have fun doing it, be competitive, play with a chip on the shoulder and get it done.»
As he embraces a new chapter with the Red Wings, fans are left to wonder about the twists and turns that may unfold in Kane's hockey journey. These full quotes are cited by Blackhawks reporter Scott Powers, and can be found below:
