Vinnie Hinostroza has found himself in yet another unfavorable situation as he has only appeared in 19 games this season. The 28 year old forward is averaging roughly 12 minutes a game and has managed 8 points in his 19 games.
Elliot Friedman recently reported that the Buffalo Sabres are interested in moving Hinostroza to a better situation. Hinostroza has the respect of the organization and the locker room, but has been down recently due to the amount of scratches.
With a trade looming, I think the Blackhawks make a lot of sense to acquire Hinostroza for a third stint in Chicago. He is on an expiring one-year deal worth $1.7 million, so he wouldn't hinder the Blackhawks from taking on bad contracts for assets at the deadline.
Acquiring Hinostroza would also help soften the blow for the Blackhawks after the trade deadline has passed. There are numerous Blackhawks who may be on their way out of Chicago at the deadline, so having a veteran like Hinostroza will give the Blackhawks the depth to not require mass callups from Rockford to fill out the roster. It sounds like a win-win scenario for all parties involved.
