When you think of 'who is the best Blackhawks defensemen of all-time?'', a few names pop up, including Duncan Keith who stands out. He played for Chicago from 2005-06 through 2020-21, amassing 625 points in 1,192 games. He played his 1,200th NHL this past season, but in a Edmonton Oilers jersey.

Keith was traded to the Edmonton Oilers by the Chicago Blackhawks for Caleb Jones and a conditional pick in the 2022 NHL Draft quite some time ago, and has decided to retire after his short stint in Edmonton.

Keith still wants to take on a office role, sadly not with the Blackhawks but with the Edmonton Oilers, Keith has been rumored for months to be joining the organizations management group, but on Saturday October 15th pen was finally put to paper to make it official!

'The club has named Duncan Keith to a Player Development role

Keith, the two-time Norris Trophy-winning defenceman who retired this past summer following a 17-year career, begins his first post-playing role with Edmonton. In his position as Player Development Consultant, the three-time Stanley Cup champion will visit with Oilers draft picks at the junior level and also spend time with the team's prospects in Bakersfield (AHL).''
