Right now many of the NHL's players are training getting ready for the upcoming season.
This includes the New York Rangers 2019 second overall pick Kaapo Kakko. The young 21 year old recently signed a two year contract extension with the Rangers.
Kakko would post a video of his training that included a wicked slap shot that was supposedly clocked in at a whopping 172 kilometers per hour. Just 3KM short of Zdeno Chara's record breaking shot.
Supposedly because we don't know how accurate or calibrated their shot reader is, but if that's accurate that's a shot similar to former Montreal Canadiens Captain Shea Weber who hit a 107 miles per hour shot.

It looks like from this video Kakko is trying to get that shot for a hopeful attempt at the NHL all-star game where Zdeno Chara holds the record of 108.8 miles per hour.
