We are officially seventeen days away from September 28th, which marks the Blackhawks first day back on the ice, in a official NHL pre-season game which will take place against the Hawks rivalry, the Detroit Red Wings. The game will give Blackhawks fans a opportunity to see entirely new faces, from experienced signings like Max Domi to newcomers like Lukas Reichel and others.
Today, we honor the best #17 as we are 17 days away from Hawkey season. That #17 is Kenny Wharram, who sadly passed away on January 10th in his hometown of North Bay Ontario. Today, we will honor the fallen Blackhawks legends career.
The career summary below is brought to you by NBC Sports Chicago!
No. 17: Kenny Wharram (C/RW, 1951-69)
Wharram spent all 14 NHL seasons in Chicago, where he racked up 533 points (252 goals, 281 assists) in 766 regular-season games and 43 points (16 goals, 27 assists) in 80 postseason contests. His best season came in 1963-64 when he set career highs in goals (39) and points (71), and was named an NHL All-Star for the first time.
There's not much footage around from the 1960's, but a few rare clips still remain on the internet, let's take a look!
