If you asked most hockey fans they would say that Hockey Night in Canada Host Ron McLean is abit out of touch. His jokes no one really gets or laughs at but he does them regardless. Like most I grew up watching Ron McLean who's been on host since most of us weren't even born yet.
Yesterday Sportsnet quietly announced that they are cancelling Rogers Hometown Hockey after eight seasons. For those that didn't watch it, the show was McLean along with his co-host Tara Slone as they all over Canada especially the little small towns that hockey stars grew up like London Ontario Canada that they consider a NHL factory.
After making 160 stops in nearly a decade Sportsnet believes it's time to end the show. A Sportsnet spokesperson said:
«the time is simply right to bring it to a natural close and explore new broadcast opportunities, expand our storytelling capabilities and evolve the viewer experience.»

However for those hoping McLean would get the axe from Hockey Night in Canada that's not the case. MacLean is expected to stay on with Sportsnet for Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts.
«I'll be Saturday night, for sure,» he said. «That's the one thing that I'll sort of retain, and stay part of that."
